Somatic Experiencing

What is Somatic Experiencing (SETM)?

Somatic Experiencing is a body based approach designed to work with chronic stress and trauma responses. It is a gentle additive approach that supports you in building trust in your own nervous system and ability to move through even the most challenging times.

Somatic Experiencing is a practice of learning how to listen more fully to your own experience. It’s a practice of exploring and engaging awareness of sensations, images, behaviors, emotion, and meaning. We approach the work with a gentle curiosity and work with a rhythm that allows for natural pendulation between resourced and charged states to build more capacity to be with the experience as it is while also identifying resources and support.

Through building trust in your own nervous system, you will learn how to build capacity and recognize that you were made for this world and for these times. Building a more gentle and compassionate exploration of your experiences and responses will support you finding more flow between nervous system states and building the ability to skillfully utilize states that may otherwise be categorized as “dysregulated.”
